Education
I hear, and I forget. I see, and I remember. I do, and I understand.
The aim of primary Education is to provide first-hand experiences which enable children to acquire concepts and skills which will help them to understand themselves, their culture and the world in which they live. Nothing we ever imagined is beyond our powers, only beyond our present self-knowledge.
Through our education program we partnered with the German Church Deutsche Kirche Nairobi to support 400 pupils from 2 marginalized primary schools in Ugenya Siaya county with all the necessary stationaries and exam requirements needed for KCPE.
There’s no reason why children in inner cities or rural areas do not receive the same quality education or opportunities as those in suburbs or urban neighborhoods. If we truly believe in giving all citizens a chance to pursue happiness and pursue their goals, then we cannot continue to marginalize entire groups of people.
Juvenile Reforms
No one knows what tomorrow holds for them. This powerful statement keeps most of us going. Being an ex-offender in the outside world is not easy, people judge you from every corner, what you do, who you talk to, etc. It is extremely exciting how some of the juveniles we mentored at Kamiti YCTC have managed to beat the odds. They have come strong in their life to make ends meet no matter the hurdles and obstacles thrown their way. Through the lawyers we had help them out, they’ve been released into society and have gone ahead to establish small businesses to fend for themselves and their families.
